UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. It is important to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw's location, lever and key hole dimensions. Refer to the size guide for assistance with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a contemporary door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is offered in a wide range of styles & finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily fitted to doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be positioned and angled to accommodate all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The lever that is sprung can be cut to fit a wider range of locks. This is especially useful for narrower victorian scroll door handles frames where the cylinder is located further back. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles commonly found on doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are commonly utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle a high performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.

The 211mm backplate fixation centres permit a larger handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. When you have the right PZ size you will then need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

This stops draughts from entering the property. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC lever pad window handles for upvc are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock, allowing them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with internal and external doors typically needing different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for example are required to be fitted with cylinders with greater security and internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to avoid having a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a different direction. This will help to stop the attack and protect your doors.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of your door handle's backplate, providing a spring solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. In the past, a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring built into them, and as a result, they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. Adding this simple component is one of the best methods to correct this and it is also a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, since they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit unsprung handles and you'll need to cut a hole in your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of the door handle for many kinds of uPVC doors. They are fitted with an elongated square that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.
