1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic cleaner and mop vacuums we have test. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, best robot hoover and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and Best Robot Hoover supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner best that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. Finally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuums that we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
