Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover; this, for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily.
