The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units This robot cleaner with mop vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic hoovers vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance.
